Dance Competition Teams

The competition teams at R.D.A. offer students amazing performance opportunities. The students compete against thousands of other students throughout the year and gain a great sense of accomplishment. Competitive dancers are very passionate and committed to their dance as they know what it takes to be a competitive dancer. R.D.A. competitive teams have won numerous awards and accolades and compete in Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, and Musical Theater. The teams are for children 6-18 years.

Royal Dance Academy is committed to training and producing high caliber dancers that have the ability to pursue a career in the professional world of dance. We strive to create a positive learning environment in which dancers cannot only better their dance technique, but also improve their personal skills to raise their self esteem. Our competitive teams consist of the most committed dancers at our studio, and they represent the best that RDA has to offer. The competition teams are an amazing performance opportunity for dancers. They compete against thousands of dancers over the course of the year, and perform in front of judges who have very prestigious names within the dance industry. These competitions also give the dancers a great sense of accomplishment and also motivate dancers through the judges’ constructive criticism. Competitive dancers learn very quickly what it takes to be successful as a professional dancer.

Our teams this past season have won many awards. However, rather than focus on trophies and titles that a competitive dancer acquires throughout the season, we feel that it our goal as educators to inspire each dancer to focus on the creative and self empowering aspects of dance. Competition is simply a tool that we use to give each dancer an opportunity to build their skills by perfecting stage presence, technique, and a sense of teamwork that is unique to dance competitions. Throughout each competition season, we watch our students transform into more talented and confident dancers. They are driven and understand dance as an art form. RDA is very proud of the passion that each dancer shows and we strive to make this year even better. Through competition students will learn important life skills such as dedication, hard work, determination and a sincere appreciation for the art of dance. It is important that our students know that we are proud of them no matter how they score. The best studio’s are not always the one’s that go home with the most trophies, the best studios have the happiest kids and parents.

Being a member of our competition teams requires a very serious commitment. Our competition season lasts for an entire year; therefore, it is not a seasonal commitment like other sports. Dancers are required to consistently attend weekly rehearsals as well as required technique classes. Please look over the requirements closely before you decide whether or not this suits your lifestyle. We welcome all dancers who are willing to work diligently and who have a positive attitude. Our ultimate goal is to have fun doing our best! We are looking forward to an exciting year!
