Many of you are familiar with Jazz after watching the popular TV show, “So You Think You Can Dance”. Jazz is an energetic and rhythmic style of dance that blends the classical techniques of ballet with contemporary movements and modern music. Classes begin with a warm-up that focuses on stretching, conditioning, strengthening core muscles, developing body alignment, and balance. After the warm up, each class will focus on developing the technical and stylistic qualities of Jazz dance. We emphasize on these ideals with exciting progressions across the floor and fun choreography.

Hip-Hop

Hip Hop is an urban, street style of dance that has gotten it's form from many places. Tap, Swing, Jazz, Ballet, Capoeira and even African folk dancing have played a significant role in developing this dance phenomenon. Our versatile Hip Hop program combines the techniques of Breaking, Popping, Locking, Crumping, Freestyle (Improvisation), and all current forms street dancing. This is a high energy style of dance that pushes dancers to expand their retention of choreography, and understand body lines and isolation techniques that give Hip-Hop its signature style. Every dancer will have a great time learning this popular style of dance.

Turns and Leaps is a class that focuses on all levels of technical training. This class helps dancers apply their ballet and jazz training in new ways to improve upon different types of jumps and turns. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, turns and leaps is an important tool that will combine all of the your training to make you the most well rounded dancer possible.

Lyrical

Lyrical combines elements of ballet, modern, and jazz techniques. Lyrical is commonly danced to popular music with vocals or just instrumental bars. In class the dancers learn combinations that connect with their emotions. It creates a more mature and complete dancer. Besides emotional strength, the dancers learn an array of styles, body control, technique and choreography. The class starts with a short warm-up of flexibility and strength followed by a variety of routines.

Musical Theatre

Learn to be a triple talent performer! This is a class that encompasses dancing, singing and acting. Students get to experience a variety of dance styles and movement from classical musicals to the latest on Broadway. As they sing and read lines from these shows, they learn how to really let their personalities shine. As they perform for each other in class and parents on viewing days, you can see the joy and personal growth in front of your eyes.

Modern/Contemporary

Modern dance while being technical, focuses on the movement portraying inner feelings. Most often performed barefoot as it is an “earthier” style of dance. Modern can be performed to instrumental music and drum beats or no music at all. Contemporary has grown from this style. It has the same influences but incorporates a large variety of music from classical to rock. Students love the self expression they feel as they learn to tell their own story in the harmonious blending of these two dance styles.
