Royal Dance Academy Upcoming Events

I hope you are all having a wonderful Summer. I just wanted to give you an update on news and upcoming events.

New Studio.
The new studio is coming along nicely. If you walk past you will see it looks like a bomb site right now but so much demolition has been done in the past month. We are literally building a brand new state of the art facility from the ground up. It is going to be absolutely fabulous when it is finished. We are still on schedule to open on Tuesday 6th September. I am so busy everyday meeting with contractors etc., but soooooo excited that I am creating an amazing dance studio for this community.

Camps
Our summer camps have been very successful. The students have not only improved their technique but have had lots of fun throughout the weeks. Our choreography camp was a big hit and the girls are begging me to fit a class into the schedule. I'm working on it!!!We still have Boot Camp this week, Acting Camp next week (Aug 8th), RAD Camp on Aug 15th and Princess Camp on Aug 22nd. If you would like to sign up for any of the upcoming camp, then please contact the studio.

Acting Camp
I am delighted that I am able to offer such a prestigious camp to our students and friends.Carol Irwin is a fabulous teacher and is a referred acting coach by the top agency AEF. This camp will be an unbelievable experience for those who attend. We still have a few spots left so please contact the studio ASAP if you would like a spot. Carol will be bringing a casting director, manager& agent throughout the week. This camp is $500, and runs from 10:00am - 3:00 pm each day. This is a discounted rate as camps of this caliber in LA are usually $1000.

Office closed
On Sunday 7th August - Friday 12th August all the teachers and office staff will be away on a dance teachers / studio owner’s conference. We are so looking forward to learning new ideas and coming back refreshed and full of new material for the coming dance year. The Acting camp will be on but the office will be closed. If you need any help then please call or email and we will get back to you on our return. If you need to pick up schedules or information then you can stop by and pick them up from the reception desk.

New Software
As we move on to bigger & brighter things, we are also changing our software program at the studio. We have used the same one for the last 10 years but I feel as we move forward we should try a newer updated program that allows us to do a lot more administration work on-line. We are still setting and inputting all the data. This has taken a month so far. As soon as we get all the new enrollments inputted and all students in their new classes it will be easier to communicate and make necessary changes. Hopefully this new program will benefit us at the studio but also will allow you to do a lot more from your home computer also.

RAD Vocational Exams
Six of our beautiful dancers spent a week in Long Beach at the Royal Academy of Dance Summer School. They had a very intensive week of training with exceptional teachers from London. They are all taking their Intermediate exam today in Long Beach; the examiner has flown in from Brazil.I am very proud of them all!!!

Competition Teams
The competition teams have been reassessed during the summer for a number of reasons. Some students have added more teams, we have had some students audition and make it, and we have had some students struggle or excel during the Boot Camps. The list of final teams and the schedule of team classes will be sent out this week-end. The whole school will get this email as we do not have all the competition emails separately into our new system yet. If you cannot make any of the times of classes then please contact the studio immediately.

If you are new to the team, you must fill out the competition paperwork immediately so we can place you on the appropriate team. Only students who have turned in their competition contracts will be included on the lists. If you have recently been asked to join a team and you have not received your Competition Hand Book please see the front office as soon as possible. Competition dates aren't released yet but I am having a meeting with Coach Mike, Ms. Katie and Ms. Gabriella towards the end of August to finalize all the dates of competitions, conventions, extra rehearsals etc. for the year. I will send you all a separate competition calendar once we have it finalized.

New Schedule
I have made some changes to the schedule as I had to switch a few classes and alter some of the class times slightly. I will send this out separately at the end of this week.

RAD Classes
We still have a few spots in the new RAD pre-primary class. This class is the beginning of a beautiful journey of dance for those who participate. It is for children age 5 and above. I will be working on a separate calendar of events specifically for RAD students for the upcoming year so you can plan privates, master classes, camps and exams ahead of time. I can only do this once I get the dates of our exams from the USA RAD office. I will keep you posted.

New Website
The new website is close to being completed. You know how fussy I am about things being perfect!!! I will let you know when it is ready.

Uniform Days
Uniform days will be on Tuesday 16th August 9:00 am - 3:00pm, Wednesday 17th Aug 9:00am - 3:00pm,and Thursday 18thAugust 2:00pm -7:00pm. I am asking that you please purchase all dance uniform and shoes during these times. We will need lots of time clearing out the studios and moving during the last weeks in August. The less we have to move the better!!!! Also the beginning of the new dance year is always hectic in September so we strongly advise that you do not wait until your 1st class to buy uniform.

With the opening of the new studios also, there will be a lot going on. Please try to be organized and prepared before September.

Recital DVDs
Recital DVDs will be getting mailed out next week so enjoy watching what was a fabulous recital.

I cannot tell you enough how precious all the beautiful cards are. I only read 3 and I cannot see through my tears. Thank you for taking the time to write such special and meaningful words. The beautiful box of cards will always be in a special place for me.

Party
I have some great photos of the 10 year anniversary party. They are going to be on the end of the recital DVD, so make sure you watch until the very end. I still smile when I think of what a good time everyone had. It was a very memorable evening.
